England… It Sucks More Than a Thai Hooker

England… It Sucks More Than a Thai Hooker

I’ve been back here two days and I’ve already cried 78 times. Although that may be a slight exaggeration it is however an accurate representation of how I feel. You would be surprised actually – granted I do hate everything here apart from the countries rich history and the fact that speaking in an English accent in the US immediately makes me cool to 90% of the population. Thanks guys. Yet there is one thing that’s getting me down right now? No its not the cost of petrol (gas), or the economic climate… or even the political… oh whatever there are loads of reasons. But the main thing which is driving me into an irate rage which I then take out on the elderly is… the weather. License to complain accomplished!

Yes the weather. Its cold. Its wet. Its windy. Enough said. In the next 10 day forecast there isn’t a single dry day predicted. That’s DRY, never mind warm or sunny day… dry is what I have come to settle with. A dry, English, overcast day. But I doubt my prayers will be answered – maybe I should start praying to a God instead of the Marshmallow man, but that’s a different story.

welcome to england

Olympus E-PL1 Review

I have had my Olympus E-PL1 for just over 7 months now and during that time it has been my main camera. It has travelled practically everywhere with me, giving me great images and decent video files wherever I go. Here is an in-depth look at the camera which includes photographs I have taken using just the 14-42mm kit lens supplied.

The Olympus E-PL1 is a Micro 4/3 camera which uses new “mirrorless” technology to produce high quality images which nearly match the quality of a lower end DSLR. By getting rid of the conventional mirrors located inside the camera, the weight and size is dramatically reduced – leading to a camera that is easy enough to carry around all day and yet still produces great quality photos with an array of manual controls to go along with it.

When I first saw my E-PL1 I fell in love with it straight away, it would be hard for many people to deny that the camera is indeed very good looking, with its quirky looks and retro styling. I had always liked taking photographs but I would not have listed photography as one of my hobbies as I was a fairly straight forward point and shoot person up until this point. For the first month or so I pretty much only used the “iauto” mode which sets everything automatically and simply requires a press of the shutter release to make the camera take an image. The results were pleasing to me and a big improvement over my old Samsung PL151 which I had bought a year earlier.

Wiracy

Category : Site Posts

A few days ago I founded a new website called Wiracy.com. I suggest you go check it out because it is the best website ever created by a man, woman or terrestrial being.

To sum it up in a brief format I have taken an excerpt from the current featured post which helps to explain what the site is about and why you should get involved. Enjoy!

Wiracy was established on the principle of creating user submitted news about situations which actually happen by people who are living in the story. Anyone can apply to be a contributor and submit stories or pieces on their own authored pages, 50% of the ad revenue goes directly to the author for the views that reach their page as well as having a donation link whereby the content creator gets 100% of the donation being made. This provides an incentive for people all over the world to create great user submitted content while improving their lives as well. The more views they generate to their page, the more money they make and the more people are being educated or entertained about real world issues and current events. It is a win-win situation!

Thanks for viewing anyway. From now on i will be posting all posts on Wiracy for the foreseeable future and i have something special in mind for this site.

Kony 2012 – Oil in Uganda? An Objective Opinion

I first gained knowledge of the terrible atrocities that were being committed by Joseph Kony in 2007 after watching a short video clip about a former Hells Angel turned missionary who ventured over to Uganda in order to make a real world effort to stop what was going on there. From then on I had been telling people that they should research this man and that having his name and crimes go unknown and unpunished were a disgrace to the world we live in. Well… nobody listened to what I had to say. The majority of those I told thought that this was a tale of imagination or “conspiracy” and that no story of this proportion would go unattended by major organisations and news sources. Nevertheless I still informed as many people as I could, hoping that one day something of note may happen. This is why my initial emotion when presented with the amount of coverage “Kony” is getting was one of joy… finally people would put a stop to this madness and end what was going on in Uganda and hopefully the whole of central Africa as well.

However, in my limited number of years I have come to acknowledge the simple fact that everything political, social and humane now happens for a reason. I hear those who quote the Arab spring as a “peoples” uprising never mention or even hear about the 5 year plan that the US government had put in place. So I immediately questioned why all of a sudden was there a mass interest in Joseph Kony and Uganda?

Certainly his crimes warrant the attention; but so do those of the various warlords of Liberia (a former US colony) and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Yet there is generally a reason as to why things are publicised to this level. Documentaries have been produced on the atrocities of both the latter countries and yet they never receive this much attention despite the situation there being worse! Jokingly I said to myself “Whats up? Did they find oil in Uganda or something?”. I decided to follow up on my thought and sure enough major oil reserves were found in Uganda around October last year – the same time a US diplomatic team was sent to the region to “cool things down”. From here on in things get a little hairy, to simplify the situation the Chinese are making a major push vying to soak up all of the oil in the country, much like they are doing with the rest of Africa – and this to the US government spells bad news. The White House has denied over and over that they are interested in oil in the region despite sending a party of over 100 there late last year. This is the same government that was about to arm guerrillas in Cuba to attack Guantanamo bay in order to provoke a war. The same government that told us time and time again that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction… you’re getting the picture?

Tortilla Pizza Recipe

Tortilla Pizza Recipe

What are two great meals? If you answered anything other than Fajitas and Pizza you are wrong for the purpose of this article. So what a genius idea it would be to combine these two things together (no, it is not called a Calzone). This is what I did twice last week and the results are amazing!

I found this meal quite by accident as I happened to have some left over Tortillas from Fajitas I had made a few days earlier. To make a long story short I am going to go straight to the production of this delicious food.

tortilla-pizza

Ingredients:

2 x Tortillas
1 x Pepper
1 x Onion
Pieces of Chicken
Slices of Ham
Some Cheese
Some Tomato Puree
Some Garlic Granules
Some Paprika

Clearly the list can change as it would be perfectly fine to just make a “Cheese and Tomato” pizza. Well I say perfectly fine but it would really be a travesty to mankind itself if you made one of those when any other ingredients are lying around.

North Korea Seems To Have The Worlds Best Dentists

North Korea Seems To Have The Worlds Best Dentists

A few days ago I was watching a Vice documentary on North Korean slave camps and after hearing some of the marching music that this hermit nation provides to the world I was actually pretty impressed! So of all the things that North Korea is doing wrong in the world they certainly seem to know how to create epic music – however there is another chain that I noticed while watching the slideshows that accompany the songs on YouTube.

North Koreans apparently have the best dentists in the world.

That’s right; try finding a picture of Kim Jong Il, Kim Il Sung or even the now benevolent Kim Jong Un without a great beaming white smile… the task is near impossible. Of course this could mean that they simply have great painters and artists or amazing skills in Photoshop, but im pretty certain that the teeth of the “great leader/s” are whiter than Jesus’s criminal record.

A smile only a mother could love.

Kim Il Sung – Forever President of North Korea… and Aquafresh.

When I Walk

When I Walk

Over the past couple of weeks, or probably months as I have seemingly lost track of time now, I have taken to the humbled activity of walking. Partially as it is a great way to exercise relatively calmly, secondly to try to ease some of the boredom that peers into my life every so often and lastly to subdue my insatiable appetite for “doing things”. I have always been fascinated with the world and by that, yes I mean THE WORLD, as in every part of it; the vast concrete mega-structures such as New York make my brain melt into a philosophical goo just as easily as the erosion of a pebble. So where am I going with this? While walking I always take photographs along the way (yet another passion of mine) and I catch some pretty interesting things – however I never seem to catch the moments which I talk about the most, so I figured that it would be best to write them down and so forth comes the creation of this article.

About two days ago now I set out to go and photograph the bay where I live while the sun was shining – something which happens not too often in this country it seems. Unbeknown to me at the time, my original 30 minute stroll would soon turn into a 5 hour trek which would rival the Lord of The Rings saga itself.
