Body Transformation Progress – 6 Months Back (Lats) Update
Carrying on from my last post, my fitness journey is improving in leaps and bounds! I am well over double now in strength from my starting point am currently cutting to loose excess body fat I gained during my bulk. Summer is around the corner so its definitely time to show those abs and get shirtless, wet and wild in the heat! I can’t wait!
My back body transformation process at 6 months. Going well!
Seeing results such as these is such a confidence boost that proves that I am well on the right track to reach my goals of perfecting my body. It will take me around another 3 years or so yet I estimate, but it is nice to revel in the results of a few months hard work. What’s more, since starting this journey, my confidence and outlook on life has improved dramatically. Before I was working out I never would take my shirt off and was seemingly always depressed – drifting with no purpose it seemed. Fitness has given me a goal in life, a purpose and a dream I want to achieve and it is the only place in life where you get out directly what you put into it! My confidence in life has been one of the biggest improvements; no i’m not talking about confidence with women, or even body confidence – the confidence that I know that I can overcome tasks through hard work and persistence. For me, these are equally as important aspects to bodybuilding/fitness as the “dream” body.
I would encourage everyone to change if they want to. Forget what everyone else thinks or says, go for what you want to achieve in life and live for yourself. By starting today you build a better tomorrow and if you don’t you will only wish that you had started now when that day comes.
In January 2012 it suddenly hit me that I had become out of shape. I was podgy; I looked skinny wearing a t shirt, but fat without one. This had been a change from my more active years as a child and teenager and I was well on the road to becoming the “average” pizza junkie man of the modern world. Like many people I had slipped up when I had moved away to university (college) – I suddenly went from leading a fairly active lifestyle and eating moderate amounts of mixed food, to gorging on Pizza and Cheeseburgers every single day and doing nothing in the way of exercise and before I knew it I had laid on 25lbs of FAT in the space of a year! I would eat cheeseburgers at least once everyday, sometimes even twice, as well as a host of other crap that I was putting into my body! It got to the stage where when I was low on cash the guys in my local takeout would just let me take the food for free that day – knowing that I would be back tomorrow to pay them!
This illustrates my changes so far and the time it took to do them. 6 months in total guys! Thats not a load of effort is it?!
I didn’t like what I had become and wanted to do something about it. I started getting back into Martial Arts and that provided me with some motivation to get back into shape but it was never enough.
In January 2012 I started dieting and cut my calories to around 1,400 per day (about that same as in 1 cheeseburger!). I introduced a gentle home exercise regime which simply involved doing supersets with a resistance bar that I had and some old free weights. I would do these for around 30 minutes per day, coupled together with my diet and in 3 months I had lost about 20lbs!
The problem now came that I was skinnier than ever before! Although I was still revelling in my weight loss, so this problem was placed to the back on my mind. Throughout March to August I simply maintained my habit of what I was doing and lost a few more pounds and toned my muscles a little. Yet when September came I decided to kick it up a notch, I wanted to get into the best shape of my life!
Here it is from the back. This illustrates my changes so far and the time it took to do them. 6 months in total guys! Thats not a load of effort is it?!
My motivations for this were pretty complex and ranged from a variety of things. Like most guys I wanted to be stronger, bigger and more athletic than everyone in the gym (not that hard when your gym is mostly populated by 70 year olds). Yet I had other motivating factors as well, I loved the little ego high I had after my weight loss and found that getting a pump from lifting weights was like a tiny little version of this effect. Another reason which sounds pretty stupid to a lot of people was that I wanted to be the best for my girlfriend! I didn’t want to go to a beach and feel out of place, not wanting to take my shirt off. I wanted to have the best body for her as well as myself! These were all self-motivating factors for me and as such I never really needed the boost we crave from online videos or “motivational posters”.
September arrived and I pretty much went berserk with my nutrition and exercise regime. I would eat around 15 different fruits and vegetables per day in shakes (video below) and then eat lean chicken with peppers and onions after my workout. This was effectively all I ever ate until December! With this combination I got pretty ripped while still adding muscle. Regardless of the 2,000 calories I was eating I was adding muscle due to being new at weight lifting!
Once December came around I went home to stay at my parents house for a month or so and during that time lost all track of my exercise and for the most part nutrition. I was still eating healthy but there was a lot more of it I was forcing down my throat! Food which I would never purchase on my own was readily available and the temptation was always there! I sympathise for people living with others who are trying to get healthy – its a damn hard thing to do when other people are not sympathetic and supportive to your cause!
Once I returned home in January I decided to hit the gym again and seeing as I had already put on a couple of pounds over the Christmas period I decided to do a bulk. We are now in March and I have been on my bulk for around 1 and a half months now and look like this:
My goals towards the future are to continue bulking until the beginning of June and once I get back from my vacation in Berlin I am going on an 8 week cut to get beach perfect for my summer vacation in July! After that I have no idea where I am heading but wherever it will be I will always take fitness with me! I may not be the fittest, the strongest, the most ripped or the biggest but that just means I always have more goals on the horizon!
P.S. I will be posting more about my fitness story as it progresses! What my bulk was like and how I am getting ripped in the cut to come next!
Everyday I consume one of these, it generally includes around 10 different fruits and vegetables and to put simply – it is super healthy for you! It makes me shit like a new born baby, no hemorrhoids for me, plus the vegetables included have been proven to fight cancer cells, give clearer skin and just generally provide the body with what it needs to be fighting fit and healthy!
Series: Experimenting With My Own Body – Sleep and Enhanced Dream State
Over the past few weeks I have been experimenting with my own body in order to optimise its performance through adequate nutrition, supplementation and exercise. One of the key things I realised was that in order to efficiently maximise human potential the dream state must be altered and prolonged significantly. The reasons for this are many, however the main subsequent effects from increased dream state are clearly better, more beneficial sleep, as well as the impact upon creativity – something which the world seems to have lost. The more people can think freely and let their subconscious do the thinking for them, the more their eyes are opened up to a world which they previously have been blind to.
To achieve an enhanced dream state (or simply better sleep) there are two core areas which I have focused on. I prefer to call these two mechanisms sensory and “supplementational”, and as such I have broken them down into these sections below.
Supplementational
This is the area I really channelled my focus into. I have been a long time user of supplements ever since being awoken to the harsh realities of the world and the food that 99% of people in the “developed” world chug down their throats.
In order to test which supplements worked best to enhance the dream state I had to of course read and find information relating to this, which isn’t as easy as it sounds due to the fact that many people want to make money off of supplements or pharmaceuticals in order to “cure” wrongfully diagnosed negative sleep patterns.
I’ve been back here two days and I’ve already cried 78 times. Although that may be a slight exaggeration it is however an accurate representation of how I feel. You would be surprised actually – granted I do hate everything here apart from the countries rich history and the fact that speaking in an English accent in the US immediately makes me cool to 90% of the population. Thanks guys. Yet there is one thing that’s getting me down right now? No its not the cost of petrol (gas), or the economic climate… or even the political… oh whatever there are loads of reasons. But the main thing which is driving me into an irate rage which I then take out on the elderly is… the weather. License to complain accomplished!
Yes the weather. Its cold. Its wet. Its windy. Enough said. In the next 10 day forecast there isn’t a single dry day predicted. That’s DRY, never mind warm or sunny day… dry is what I have come to settle with. A dry, English, overcast day. But I doubt my prayers will be answered – maybe I should start praying to a God instead of the Marshmallow man, but that’s a different story.
I have had my Olympus E-PL1 for just over 7 months now and during that time it has been my main camera. It has travelled practically everywhere with me, giving me great images and decent video files wherever I go. Here is an in-depth look at the camera which includes photographs I have taken using just the 14-42mm kit lens supplied.
The Olympus E-PL1 is a Micro 4/3 camera which uses new “mirrorless” technology to produce high quality images which nearly match the quality of a lower end DSLR. By getting rid of the conventional mirrors located inside the camera, the weight and size is dramatically reduced – leading to a camera that is easy enough to carry around all day and yet still produces great quality photos with an array of manual controls to go along with it.
When I first saw my E-PL1 I fell in love with it straight away, it would be hard for many people to deny that the camera is indeed very good looking, with its quirky looks and retro styling. I had always liked taking photographs but I would not have listed photography as one of my hobbies as I was a fairly straight forward point and shoot person up until this point. For the first month or so I pretty much only used the “iauto” mode which sets everything automatically and simply requires a press of the shutter release to make the camera take an image. The results were pleasing to me and a big improvement over my old Samsung PL151 which I had bought a year earlier.
A few days ago I founded a new website called Wiracy.com. I suggest you go check it out because it is the best website ever created by a man, woman or terrestrial being.
To sum it up in a brief format I have taken an excerpt from the current featured post which helps to explain what the site is about and why you should get involved. Enjoy!
Wiracy was established on the principle of creating user submitted news about situations which actually happen by people who are living in the story. Anyone can apply to be a contributor and submit stories or pieces on their own authored pages, 50% of the ad revenue goes directly to the author for the views that reach their page as well as having a donation link whereby the content creator gets 100% of the donation being made. This provides an incentive for people all over the world to create great user submitted content while improving their lives as well. The more views they generate to their page, the more money they make and the more people are being educated or entertained about real world issues and current events. It is a win-win situation!
Thanks for viewing anyway. From now on i will be posting all posts on Wiracy for the foreseeable future and i have something special in mind for this site.
